How to choose a truck. New and Used Sales Made Easy
There are six important things you need to consider before choosing a truck forklift for your business, to ensure You Get one that can handle your needs without overspending.
Before you start looking at forklifts or talk distributors, you need to determine exactly what the truck needs to be done. Here are 6 vital questions to be answered before you start comparison shopping:
Forklift Sales 101
1: What do you weigh and what size are your typical loads?
It is important to take into account all charges which have to be transported and taken now and in the near future. Although generally you do not want to buy a truck then lift with more capacity is needed (because the increased capacity is equal to a higher purchase price), you have to allow for a lifting capacity to safely carry all loads in place.
Also to consider is how high loads need to lift the lifting capacity decreases as the more we raise. Like most standard forklifts are designed to bring Australia 1200mm x 1200mm pallet size, will be the width of your loads require a special type of machine or attachment to use? Cargo capacity also affect the type and fuel type of forklift is necessary.
ie loads up to 2000kgs or more usually precludes the use of electric forklifts.
2: How higher is needed to lift the load?
Are any storage space becoming a problem in the future and the need to be able to store the goods at high levels? Is there a mezzanine or high level you need space for stacking a? On the other hand, what is the lowest gate or beam take the lift to fit low and you need a mast forklift small enough to fit into shipping containers?
3: Do you use it indoors, outdoors or both?
The surface areas of your work, determine what types of forklift and settings you need. For example, reach up high or forklifts will generally only suitable for perfectly dry surfaces flat indoor use.
Most standard, sit (counterweight) forklifts are more flexible and can be used on flat surfaces not so flat indoors and outdoors. If your workplace has rough and unstable surfaces that need to be driven on, you may require 4 × 4 (all terrain) forklift.
The area will also determine the type of tires you need.
Forklifts used tires will open with a type tread for sure grip to keep wet. Lift trucks are mainly used in the interior are commonly equipped with tires unmarked type of standard tires and black streaks of rubber on the surface.
Another factor to take into account indoor use of harmful exhaust gases.
Of the four basic types of fuel trucks available in: petrol, diesel, electric battery and liquefied petroleum gas, only the latter two are suitable for indoor use. Gasoline and diesel engines produce poisonous exhaust gases and are not suitable for use in confined spaces.
4: How much room do you have to maneuver? How wide are your narrowest aisles?
If the lift is mainly going to be used indoors, then the handling is an important consideration. (This is exhaust emissions!) How well does it turn? How much physical space is occupied? Does your workplace require forklifts to be used in enclosed areas where limited space to maneuver?
Where Palletising is used, do they need so that the narrow aisle racking bays and equipment can be stored? Are there certain areas where a loaded forklift can handle through the fight?
5: How many hours per day is used for?
How much use of get your truck, greatly affects the age and fuel type of the machine is recommended. If using a forklift to less than 4 hours day, it is recommended that a second hand forklift reconditioned. Here you can save 50% or more in initial outlay.
For more 4 hours a further day or leased forklift may be cheaper to maintain and repair once they factored in. If you need a forklift to run all day, every day, then LPG is usually the best option as empty bottles can be changed quickly.
6: lease / rent or purchase, new or used?
Here the type of equipment needed, the amount of use and its budget are the main decision factors. Some trucks require large initial outlays to acquire new can still be rented for a fraction of the price. Businesses that require his forklift to be used 24 / 7 usually find the car a much better option as maintenance and repair costs are covered by owner in most rental leases /.
Another business, where trucks will get little use is cheaper to buy a truck open second-hand truck instead of paying rent for a week or month. Obviously new forklifts require less maintenance and are generally more reliable than older ones. Also have the advantage of ensuring grant which is attractive to some buyers.
